Why Does God Appear so Stuck on Himself?
Tuesday, March 17th, 2009This is just too good a video to pass up… I had to break my blogging silence (sorry) with this (you’re welcome).
It’s worth all the 270 seconds (4min. 30 sec.).
Thoughts?

Some of you have turned 18 since the last election took place in the United States of America. This is your first opportunity to participate in the democratic process as an American and vote. I encourage you, strongly, to make sure you register and vote.
For all of us who are Christians and Americans - I hope we are clear on where our first priority and citizenship lies. (see Philippians 3:20 and Ephesians 2:19).
Not all issues on the table in this election carry the same weight in the Word of God.
There are zillions of opinions, polls, articles, blogs, TV personalities, “famous” people, media outlets, pumping out zillions of bits of information - so it seems. With each election in the electronic age this has continued to increase. How can you even begin to sift through it and know who to listen to? What are your guiding principles?
I’ll point you in the direction of a few, select sources that have helped me think through these issues in ways that are in line with our “sound thinking” passion here at RockSolid.
A very helpful one was just made available today. Here is John Piper’s heart on the elections: (no where in this video does he tell you who to vote for):
1. He is the most passionate guy I think I’ve ever met.
2. He does not seem to really care about his approval ratings.
3. He has a father’s heart.
4. By not trying to be cool…he’s cool.

Don’t miss out on the audio or video or written content (take your pick) they have made available on their website, from their recent 2008 National Conference.
DesiringGod.org is the home of “God-centered resources from the ministry of John Piper“. A wealth of resources, sermons, articles, conference audio/video, books, Q & A - you name it… and most of all it’s FREE. You can purchase Piper’s books or order sermons series or conference sets - but you can almost always read it or watch it online for free. Stunning.
So take the time - rearrange your evenings this week - get your homework done, not so you can watch the Monday Night Football game on ESPN, or the MLB playoffs, or the new Survivor…but so you can feast on the sermons and content of the conference just completed on the theme of “The Power of Words and the Wonder of God“.
Feast this week on “rock solid” teaching (couldn’t resist) and enlarge your hunger and passion for Jesus and the Word of God…you’ll be convicted, challenged, and laugh some too (Mark Driscoll was there - the guy’s funny at times…).
All the video from the conference is now online:
