history

Rock Solid was started in 2001 by Josh McPherson, (the son of Life-Trac Family Ministries founders, Greg and Candy McPherson).  Josh had a vision to reach his generation with passionate teaching on the character of God and to see students equipped to live vibrant lives of holiness, devotion, purity and maturity in the things of God.

It was initially launched as a teen leadership camp with an emphasis on godly relationships.  It’s shifted slightly over the years to target a “student” population that includes college-age and young singles.  The heart of the vision is to see students pursue Jesus Christ and live for His Glory - to think hard, study hard, and dig deep into Christ and His Word.

The Lord has faithfully used Rock Solid to prepare young men and women for a life of eternal significance, a strong God-centered marriage, and passionate ministry to a lost world and a lukewarm church.

Rock Solid was originally held at Camas Meadows Bible Camp on Blewett Pass in WA state.  It was a rugged mountain camp setting that provided a real “boot camp” experience.

Rock Solid moved to Multnomah University in Portland, OR in 2006, and the boot camp experience of the Rock Solid week through the rigorous teaching schedule and challenging format came along in the move.  RS is considered a hybrid of boot camp meets Bible college meets mission trip!

The Greater Portland area was a great fit for Rock Solid, bringing opportunities of urban, cultural, and worldview experiences that have been incorporated into the RS week known as “Operation Portland“.

In 2007, Josh’s long-time friend Adam James joined the team full-time to help lead Rock Solid.

RS is on the move again, this time just down the road to George Fox University in Newberg, OR.  George Fox University offers RS upgraded facilities, a beautiful campus, and room to grow.

The Rock Solid team and alumni all sense God using this ministry as a tool to shatter spiritual apathy and awaken a burning desire in students to experience and spread a passion for the glory of God in this and future generations.
